Join us for one of the festival’s favourite traditions—a guided trip introducing paddlers to some of the best whitewater runs in the Sjoa Valley.
Åsseng Gorge is a beautiful and playful section of the Sjoa River, offering a step up from the Normal Playrun with more continuous whitewater and spectacular scenery. The trip finishes in Heidal, just a short walk from the kayak shop.
Requirements
Participants must have a reliable roll and be fully comfortable paddling the Sjoa Normal Playrun at medium to high water levels.

This is a guided social river trip, not a coaching clinic. Participants are responsible for ensuring that they have the skills, experience, equipment and fitness required for the trip.
All participants paddle at their own risk. Whitewater kayaking is an inherently hazardous activity and river conditions may change rapidly. By joining the trip, participants acknowledge and accept these risks.
The guides, event organisers, Sjoa River Festival, Strie Strømmer, landowners and affiliated volunteers accept no liability for personal injury, death, loss or damage to equipment, vehicles or other property arising from participation in this activity.
Guides may refuse participation to paddlers who do not demonstrate the required skill level or who are considered inadequately equipped for the conditions on the day. The guides’ decisions regarding safety are final.
